Any filmmaker can admit to having some sort of post production blues. It’s part of the process and it becomes real when faced with things you have to make decisions on that are unexpected, expensive or you think long and hard about how you can keep that shot.
Then there’s the editor that you thought was a magician and could perform miracles.
During post production reality sets in during and the creative process takes over and it all comes together.
Make sure you hire an editor that has some sort of vision and finds a passion for your project. Trust me it will come together authentically.
Post production is what a call going for a roller coaster ride. From the time we call it’s a wrap to the red carpet premiere any and everything can happen with your project. There’s a lot of highs and some devastating lows. But when you absolutely love what you do the adrenaline rush will keep you wanting more.
In the meantime while your film is being edited PLAN, PREPARE AND MARKET. Keep yourself moving for your project. It will be worth it when you finally release it to the world.
- Build a website and social media links
- create a press release announcing your film to the world
- Get a good trailer to help with promotions
- Research festivals
- Develop distribution plan
In summary. Yes you will be taking a ride in post production but don’t loose focus on the big picture plan ahead and prepare for GREATNESS.
