What an amazing summer! Studio 11 Films & The 11Eleven11 Project has done it again. Thanks to Nevada Partners and The City of Las Vegas we have successfully completed our third year in Nevada and instead of just shooting a short film the 14 youth that participated spent 6 intensive weeks doing more than they truly expected. Week one we laid the ground work and they got their feet wet learning about all the crew positions and the fundamentals of filmmaking. During that same week they were introduced to “making music for movies”. Not only did they learn about picking a track, creating a hook and the melody. They also wrote the song and went in the studio where they worked with industry professionals recording a song https://vimeo.com/179554630 that would later be used in a PSA for Cares organization, the film and one that they would perform on stage Downtown Fremont St. That same weekend they took their first week of training and applied it to shooting a professional music video (https://vimeo.com/188680666) , again prepping them for the feature length film we would be shooting starting the 4th week. The second week they completed their walkie talkie training, created their own videos on their phones and tablets including learning basic editing. During that same week they participated in the pre-production process which included breaking down the script, assisted with the casting process (some students auditioned and was cast), prepped for wardrobe, met with crew, received camera and equipment training, went location scouting, helped coordinate rehearsals and we can’t forget learned how to set up a good craft service table.
Lights, camera, action! During the 4th week it was time to go into production and these talented youth stepped up to the plate and took charge. Misguided Behavior was shot in approximately 13 days starring Mindless Behavior (EJ, Princeton, Mike), Khalil Kain, Doris Morgado, Clifton Powell, Carl Payne (also our Director), Valencia Wilson, Samson Logan and our very own 11Eleven11 Project students. Our cinematographer was Freeman White III who has a passion for our youth and did a great job with his crew training while working on set. He brought in the big guns; we shot on the Red Dragon in 6K. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOtACJCmwnE
After they completed the feature during their last week they also shot a PSA for Cares Organization https://vimeo.com/183023673 and graduated from the program as Certified Production Assistants on August 20th.
Thanks to everyone that made this summer a huge success, see you at the premiere in 2017!!!
